Chocolate craving can best be satisfied with a tasty chocolate cake. There are several recipes for making different types of chocolate cakes but still people face difficulty in making a chocolate cake. Recipe of “Ultimate Chocolate Cake” which I am going to share with you is quite easy and anyone of you can make it. I am sure you and your family members will love its taste.

Ingredients for Chocolate Cake

  • Dark chocolate of good quality : 200 gram
  • Butter : 200 gram
  • Self-raising flour : 85 gram
  • Coffee granules : 1 tablespoon
  • Plain flour : 85 gram
  • Muscovado sugar (light) : 200 gram
  • Bicarbonate of soda : ¼ teaspoon
  • Caster sugar (golden) : 200 gram
  • Medium size eggs : 3
  • Cocoa powder : 25 gram
  • Grated chocolate : for decoration
  • Buttermilk : 5 tablespoon

Ingredients for Ganache

  • Caster sugar (golden) : 2 tablespoon
  • Double cream : 284 ml carton
  • Dark chocolate of good quality : 200 gram

Chocolate Cake with Ganache Filling


Step # 1: Take a 20 cm cake tin (round shape) that is 7.5 cm deep. Brush this tin with butter. Preheat oven (to fan) at 150 degree Celsius. Make small pieces of dark chocolate and put them in medium size pan. Now cut butter in small pieces and add in pan. Add coffee granules in cold water (125 ml) and put the mixture in pan. Place the pan on low heat for melting these ingredients. However avoid overheating.

Step # 2: Take a large size bowl and add flours, caster sugar, cocoa powder, muscovado sugar, and bicarbonate of soda. Mix all these ingredients with hands for getting rid of lumps. Now add eggs and buttermilk in another bowl and start beating for getting smooth mixture.

Step # 3: Pour egg mixture and chocolate mixture in flour mixture. Stir them well so that the mixture becomes smooth. Put this mixture in cake tin and place it in oven. Bake the tin for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Use a knife and insert in middle of cake to check if it is baked or not. Increase the baking time if it is still unbaked. Now allow the tin to cool.

Step # 4: Horizontally cut this cake in 3 pieces. Now we will make ganache. Slice dark chocolate in pieces and put in the bowl. Add double cream and caster sugar in pan and heat on high temperature. Remove this pan from heat when the mixture starts boiling. Pour this boiling mixture on chocolate. Keep stirring for melting chocolate and when mixture becomes smooth.

Step # 5: Take one piece of cake and layer it with ¼ ganache. Now take another cake piece and place it on first piece. Layer the second piece with ganache in the same manner. Repeat the same procedure with third cake piece. Pour the remaining ganache on top of cake. Use palette knife to smooth the sides of cake. Now use grated chocolate for decoration of cake.

Chocolate cake is now ready. Serve it to your family and enjoy its yummy taste.
